S week
March 9-13
This week at SSS has been busy, full of s’s and snakes. As you may or may not know winter is the slow season in our industry. Since the weather has been on the upturn (for the most part) we have been getting busier! It has been making my days go so fast getting phone calls and messages from everyone; we’re super excited to get back into the rhythm of summer time. Hearing from old clients, and meeting new ones is the most fun part of the job.
As you may remember our SSS sign was bent up a few weeks ago. Thanks to Kenton over at Sports Wear Plus, we have a brand new straight and freshly finished sign to display! The outpour of support from everyone after the incident was amazing; we received tons of comments and messages with offers to help and just good wishes. I want you to know that we deeply appreciate all of it. It’s so heartwarming to have the community coming onto our Facebook or Instagram and letting us know that you’re all there! If you have some extra time today show Kenton some appreciation for fixing up our sign and give their Facebook page a like: Sportswear Plus – Alberta Trophy!
Loren tattooed a snake or serpent almost everyday this week! She has a wide variety of snakes posted now to take a look at. You can really see each client’s individuality and Loren’s artistic range in these tattoos, from small and simple to large and delicate, she got to work on all kinds this week! You can find some of the tattoos below, one is still in progress so there isn’t a photo of it yet.
You may have seen last week that we started advertising for guest artists! With Roxie still on sick leave we are going to be having some guests in her room, bringing you tattooers that you may not normally get to see because they are from out of town. We are still in the process of scheduling and all those details that have to get dealt with before anything fun can happen but it looks like we are going to have a great summer with some new people bringing their art to share with you!
I have been diving more into Chris’ record collection the last few weeks. We often have Spotify playing just on the computer in the waiting room when you come in. You may have noticed though that there are a million billion records in the shelves under the window. Chris recently got some new records from a friend and so I started to use the record player more. He’s got some really great records, some new to me some familiar. I found some of my favourite albums like, the Beastie Boys, Check Your Head (which obviously sounds a lot better on vinyl than on a laptop speaker). I also discovered some new favourites, like Doug and the Slugs, Wrap It! If you haven’t heard of Doug and the Slugs you’ve got to check em out, they’re available on Spotify! Next time you’re waiting, make sure to take a look down the spines of the records, you never know what you might discover.

A junky who was looking for scrap metal to sell bent the bottom of the S’s upwards trying to pry it off the wall.
